The Logline:

A washed-up 90s sitcom teen heartthrob invites a documentary crew to film his attempt at a comeback - and nothing goes the way he thinks it will. A heartfelt, comedic look at second chances and the price of past fame.

❋ The Hook:

  • Taps directly into the booming 90s nostalgia wave

  • Uses the mockumentary format audiences love: fast, funny, bingeable

  • Built for viral potential with fake sitcom clips, celebrity cameos, and fan-culture parody.

❋ The Tone:

  • Waiting for Guffman - ensemble improv + small-town absurdity

  • Popstar: Never Stop Stopping - delusional fame satire

  • American Movie - real emotion behind the comedy

The film blends comedy, heart, and bittersweet nostalgia (Mandela Effect) that resonates across generations.

The Tagline:

“All stars burn out. Some just don’t know when to quit.”

The World:

To explore the tone and world of Cory in Orbit, I created a short in-universe podcast episode from “Lost in Syndication” — a fictional show about forgotten TV stars.

This is the kind of media ecosystem the film lives in… where Cory Quaid is remembered, misremembered, and mythologized.

The Cory in Orbit Set:

The Team:

Aaron G. Hale

Aaron G. Hale is an Atlanta-based writer, director, and actor known for blending heartfelt nostalgia with sharp, character-driven comedy. Through his banner Low T Pictures, his award-winning short films (Reggie & Rainbow, Javelina Run & Clementine) have screened at festivals worldwide.

Cory in Orbit will be Hale’s feature debut, continuing his voice with a bigger canvas—melding heartfelt comedy, nostalgic world-building, and emotionally grounded characters into a story about the people we become after the applause fades.

Charles Landers

Award-winning commercial director Charles Landers got his start on feature film crews. He lives in Texas and has produced several films and often performs multiple creative roles, including partnering with Hale on Reggie & Rainbow. He has won Addy, Telly, and Davey awards for shorts and commercials as a writer, producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and visual effects artist.
